Healesville Racing Club

Renown for its wildlife sanctuary, the quiet leafy province of Healesville is also home to the Healesville Racing Club, one of many regional clubs promoting thoroughbred horse racing at a grass-roots level. The club’s aim is to allow the public to participate in horse racing while relaxing with a picnic lunch.

The ‘Healesville Picnics’ has gained a well-deserved reputation as one of Victoria’s great days out. Only 60kms east of Melbourne through the famous Yarra Valley wine district, the Healesville racecourse is shaded by towering elm trees. Mount Rael provides a visually splendid backdrop.

Picnic sites are available for private groups of between 20 and 1000 guests. Your picnic party might be a small group under a marquee in a quiet area. Or you may prefer a large-scale event located trackside for the best view of the horses as they thunder by.
